The worst double standard. by tddanceWR77in MensRights

[–]the_pin 11 points12 points ago

What I find funny about the feminist movement is that they are so vastly self-interested. People give celebrities a hard time often for promoting certain causes (George Clooney, Chris Martin etc.), but at least there is some nobility for these persons as they do not actively pursue causes that directly benefit themselves; this is in stark contrast to the current (and most annoying/bellicose) North American feminist.

Proof positive of their self interest is the inherent misrepresentation in their cause; it is a misnomer in the greatest sense to have a label "feminism" that imports with it the idea of creating equality for all women. Feminists care about making things better for themselves; women in the middle east are being burned and raped and treated sub-human, yet I rarely hear any NA femmes harping on that.

Not only do women know nothing about being a man, they know nothing about being a woman in a larger sense. These feminists have necks that only function in a single direction...up. They look up at men with more and want what they have. They never look at the men with part time work for barely any pay, or the women who actually have no rights in other countries. They don't want equality, they want a role reversal. Equality doesn't mean "equal" to them, it simply means at least equal, but if it slides over toward their side (I.e. 60% of admitted to medical school being women) then they are fine with that.

They should just be happy they have someone to complain to, unlike men. When things are unfair...we just deal with it.

MFA: After years of wearing VERY loose clothes I'm trying to mend my ways. Any advice? by tremendosaurin malefashionadvice

The key really is to have a good tailor when it comes to pants. Obviously nice for shirts as well, but for pants it is a must (such a variance with men).

Specifically, I agree the bottom of the pants need to be tapered a little and perhaps shortened. It looks good though, better than my first attempt when I began to attempt to dress properly :)

Why I don't tell people I'm an atheist. (I blame the people of r/atheism...) (first 60 seconds) by dormioin videos

[–]the_pin 2 points3 points ago

Wow some of the things he said regarding atheism were quite obtuse...I was surprised quite frankly (talking about the last couple minutes of the video).

He said he wasn't an atheist because...why? He doesn't want to be associated with the rather small percentage that are "in your face" and because the word atheist shouldn't exist? For someone so intelligent, I was surprised that he conflated the idea of the "movement" and just the general belief (or lack thereof I should say).

His golf analogy is inherently flawed; the reason "non-golfer" hasn't been condensed into a single word is...well it isn't important and golf in fact does exist. The mere fact that theists believe in something for which there is no proof, and which they want to use as an implement to control our lives and shape our public policies, in my view, necessitates a word to segregate those people who do not wish to be included (in the insanity).

What's the best comeback you've heard or said? by kmcleodin AskReddit

[–]the_pin 0 points1 point ago

Not so much a comeback, but I worked at a big pharma company in sales in Canada. In the 80's there was discussion of going to a four day work week and so there was a general meeting with the VP and all the sales reps etc. (about 70 people). It was a lot different back then; really an old boys club.

Anyway, the VP stands up to discuss how we are not implementing the four day week yet, and I, being the lazy joker that I am, stand up and say "well I think I speak for everyone when I say I am glad we aren't going to a four day week; if you want me to work an extra day a week I better be getting paid for it."

Needless to say it got some good laughs...I miss those days

Ummm, I have had this done at the doctor (with a more powerful syringe-device) and it was done with tap water and worked well for me. He said nothing about infection; in fact he blasted the water in right away and it wasn't even warm.

My consistent caveat to friends on Reddit by JamesAJanissein funny

[–]the_pin 1 point2 points ago

Well, I think the idea is that Christians are assholes to people who don't deserve assholish behaviour (i.e. gays, children, anyone who doesn't think like them etc.) whereas those on r/atheism tend to talk about those experiences in an assholish manner. Ergo...justified

Let's Start Paying College Athletes --- US college football and men's basketball are vast commercial enterprises. And yet they're officially amateur, with players paid nothing. The hypocrisy is astounding, the misconduct scandals guaranteed. Here's a manifesto for change by DrRichardCraniumin business

[–]the_pin 1 point2 points ago

I wrote a lengthy page paper in law school on the legalities of what the NCAA is doing with college athletics (specifically the revenue generating sports: men's basketball and football) and how the NCAA and these schools collude in a perverse symbiotic relationship that turns these athletes essentially into slaves. Operating under the guise of getting an "education" is laughable.

The shameless American Dollar. by grobanoshin pics

[–]the_pin 0 points1 point ago

It is a very poor assumption to think that if we took money from CEO's it would end up in the hands of employees. Directors and officers of a corporation decide where the money goes; if it doesn't go to them, it goes to the shareholders.

I understand the frustration of workers, but this really is just reflective of everyone's general attitude: They want for themselves...this includes every employee regardless of their level of employment. Everyone has the toughest job in the world...and CEO's control the money. If you don't like it, your best bet is to go be a CEO because it probably isn't going to change since, borrowing percentages from that dollar bill, 99% of Americans are also greedy as shit.

I think everyone with a brain understands this. To me, this statement is meaningless because the only people who it is directed at, really, is rapists and they don't care. Every normal man knows this. You cannot get raped without a rapist present, this is clear. But what isn't clear, is that alcohol and what you wear and flirting could certainly be aggravating factors. You make bad choices when you are drunk, you get yourself into situations you might normally not get into. Wearing a short skirt with your breasts hanging out and giant heels is fine, but it certainly makes it easier for the rapist, and harder to get away should you find yourself in this situation. Women are very stubborn sometimes; a man like myself finds it hard to see their point of view. I sit here and think, yes it is never right to blame the victim, but you should do everything you can to protect yourself from getting raped if you desire to not be raped. Everyone starts with the presumption that, in a perfect world of normal males, women could wear whatever they want and act however they want and be wasted all the time and no one would ever be raped. This isn't reality...get over being so sensitive about this issue; no one should blame you but I don't think it is bad advice to say be careful when drinking because there are rapists lurking around. Be careful how much you drink for a number of reasons besides getting raped. Women have gripped so tightly onto this erroneous argument that everyone is blaming them. If rapists are caught, they are thrown in jail for a long while...we place the blame on them, but is this even really the issue? All I care about is less women getting raped, not who is blaming who after. Try to minimize your chances and prevent it from happening; if you dress with your tits hanging out and get wasted then that is fine, you will never get raped by me...
