I like it :) I have a few suggestions though. Try placing some clumps of dirt protruding from the block so it looks less smooth, and more organic. I'm really digging the bits of dirt you have around the ground. Your grass could be a bit darker and wider/thicker though, and would benefit from a little more dynamic lighting. If you have it set up so that you can make the grass colored from dark to light from root to tip, I think it'd really help with believability.. I'm looking forward to seeing more!

in the end, the masses trust paypal. More ways to pay = more people paying = more eyeballs on the ads = ???? = more freedom

I understand completely, but in this case, it's a VERY worthy cause, and securing more donations to kick this asshat to the curb is worth a little dark irony, imo

I'm concerned about the perceived danger of entering your credit card info on a "random" website. Adding the possibility of using paypal might help greatly toward your cause. Is there any reason why this isn't feasible? if not, please, for all our sakes, consider this pronto

sure we will. we just need to channel the electricity from the optic nerve into something machine-readable, and hit record as someone enters the great unknown.

I'd say if you've decided to go, it's best not to bring your problems with you, rather let her see what kind of person you've grown into. It's alright to let the conversation go down that path if it unwinds naturally into that type of discourse, but I wouldn't bring it with you ready to unload...

but it feels dirrrrrty.

I'll at least check into the benefits though.

Here's my concern. I'm just learning the basics of this stuff, and I know realistically that this suggestion will really help me make some fantastic things, but I know as soon as I start down the path of different 3rd party frameworks, I'm more vulnerable to learning things "the wrong way" and cementing bad habits before I know any better. My goal is to take my understanding of the foundations of ajax web development as far as it makes sense to do so, then adding custom frameworks when I feel confident I can at least make basic/functional webapps without them. Do you think this is a valid approach?

Thanks for the input. I think you can appreciate my desire to learn the down-to-the-metal stuff then, as it's the path you started down. I'll end up somewhere in the middle, but I think at my level of knowledge, going into the world of any particular framework may just confuse me. As time progresses and I get more comfortable with the basics, I'll take your suggestions into account.

Thanks for the detailed response. I've got a friend who's a whiz with web development, and he's always cautioned me about using jquery. His rationale is that as soon as you need to make something that jquery doesn't support, you'll be SOL. I'm trying to just put my head down and work through the nitty gritty, but I totally understand what you're saying as well... I'll probably end up somewhere in the middle, but regardless, I'd like to have at least some knowledge of what I'm technically trying to accomplish before I use other frameworks to gloss over it.

That being said, I figured classes are what I'd need to check out...I'll do more research per your suggestions. Thanks!
