I have no idea what you mean, I just find it amusing the lengths people will go to preserve their own ego.... The position of 'any negative reaction to what I say has to do with the people who reacted and nothing to do with problems with me or my words and actions' is one that is impossible to attack because of its very nature.... and I would surmise that it is often constructed in this way either on purpose or unintentionally as a means of self preservation.

After all, it's much easier to identify the problem as being 'those other people with their crazy issues'. That way you never have to self reflect and actually ever consider changing! I'm not sure how a newspaper would change my perspective, since I'm not really commenting on current affairs or anything even close.

You assert that there is a difference between racism and stereotyping
they make a rebuttal, calling you 'white boy' in the process
You call them racist
They use your comment back at you in a satirical manner saying that they were 'playing on the stereotype'

...but they weren't 'playing on the stereotype' at all, they were inferring from your posts so far that you are white. White people (self included) are not on the receiving end of any major marginalisation by virtue of their race. I can never truly know the power of racism, because I'm white. Neither can you. It's very easy to be blind to your privilege if you aren't looking out for it.

Nah, I dream about my boyfriend breaking up with me or cheating on me pretty regularly, even though we've been together for over 2.5 years, living together for most of it, and regularly discuss marriage.

I'm so happy right now that I'm terrified.... those dreams are just a manifestation of my biggest fears.

Also it's really upsetting to have a dream that seems completely real...often in these dreams I've gone to bed and 'woken up the next day' only for my world to fall apart. Waking up from a dream like that is such a relief, but I can end up feeling a little off for hours after because the emotions were so real.

Obviously I'd never break up with or be angry at my boyfriend for these dreams... but they suck. Luckily he's very nice about it and gives many cuddles to make me feel better after.

Yeah, it's a damn shame... and it affected my relationship with her for a long time. When I was a teenager I'd appear at the top of the stairs ready for a night out and say "How do I look?" and she'd say "You look lovely!.....would you not put on a bit of tan??" and try to attack me with her bronzer brush.

She cried actual legit tears when I told her I wasn't intending on wearing fake tan to my debs...so much so that I acquiesced in the end.

I'm 25 now, so we've reached a sort of accord where she understands not to mention aspects of my style that she doesn't like, and where I twist my septum piercing up into my nose if we are going out in public together in my home town.... but it still makes me feel sad. As I've said to her, I totally understand that sometimes she wishes she had a daughter who was 'normal' and liked all the girly stuff she likes... but what I don't understand is that knowing that I'm not like that, that she'd still like me to pretend to be in case other people think badly of me (and of her by extension)
