See, I think you do a disservice by outright banning the comment. I disagree with OhioTry's sentiment about pre-op vs post-op, but by deleting it you eliminate the opportunity for other people to see the comment and chime in, and explain to OhioTry why they're wrong. In addition, other people reading such a discussion could learn from it as well. That's what reddit is all about.

For the record, I feel like Orthodox/religious Jews are pretty consistent on these. All of the stuff in the Bible (ie the "Old Testament") is actually followed--- no fortune telling, tattoos, mixed fabrics ("shatnitz"), shellfish (or anything unkosher), shaving beard with a razor, gossip ("lashon harah"), or anything on shabbat (Saturdays for us). The other ones (divorce, wearing gold, covering hair in church) are all from the New Testament.

You seem like your heart is in the right place. You might want to know that LGBT people don't generally prefer to be called "homosexuals". When I hear it it strikes me the same way "colored people" does. You might want to double check with people in the LBGT "community", but this is what I have heard.

Shit, I also answered yes to all of those. I would say it's definitely my biggest problem in life. Currently in therapy/on medication for depression for over a year that is very well managed at this point. Also no longer on ADD meds because they exacerbated the depression/anxiety and made me unable to eat. Never smoked or done any drugs, I drink occasionally in small quantities and never get drunk. Female.

Yes! This is why I think all churches/synagogues that perform same-sex weddings should make bumper stickers that say "My church/synagogue performs same-sex weddings; banning gay marriage violates my religious freedom." I've been wanting to make one for myself, but first I have to confirm whether my synagogue does indeed do so (I haven't lived in my current city for very long).
