Depending on what country you're in, try switching to a 3-pin plug, or getting the whole system grounded in some way.

Sometimes these things appear to behave strangely, probably because I don't understand precisely how these noises are induced (hums, buzzing, and/or clicks). They often disappear immediately on earthing.

I'm not arguing that lower bitrates sound worse. I just meant that people unaware of the difference will not even think about it and just listen to the music. That's cool too I guess. People listen to radio all the time, which is compressed as hell. Once you put it out of your mind, you kind of forget it and just enjoy the music (if you like it).

And please bear in mind I'm a musician and something of an audio engineer / computer musician myself. I wouldn't use that button.

Don't worry :). Buddhism isn't a practice without a heart. If anything, meditating and 'letting go' of preconceptions opens you up more and more to loving unconditionally. In fact it's all heart!

I don't think it's about the matter in your body being reborn. It's about remembering where the stream of your consciousness flowed and was shaped on the way to being what you might now consider as yours.

These memories also seem to be a natural result of clarity. As you meditate more, you might notice remembering childhood memories more vividly. Past-life memories seem like a backwards extension of the same process.

Anyway, I wouldn't focus on it too much right now if it seems unbelievable. As you already know, there are a lot of things that seem much more credible when you have first-hand information on how they work.
