/r/iPad, I need your help. Fast. I dropped my iPad and there's a (big) dent in the top left corner,and it seems to slightly bend upwards. Thoughts on what I should do? :(

The thing about the memory metal is you have to draw a very hot bath, I mean boiling hot, and then submerge the ipad.

This allows the metal to bend back into its original shape.

I was so concerned about putting a huge scratch in the glass that I got one of those screen protectors.

The problem is that it reduces the readability of the screen.

I wouldn't say that his treatment right now is unfair.

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

If the smoking of marijuana (once) was a big enough deal for them to evict him, they should have done that.

Instead, they told him to stop (he did), then they reported him to his school (a dickish thing to do), then they allowed him to stay beyond the end of term (voluntarily), and are now talking badly about him and trying to make his life miserable (because they are assholes).

This seems like a childish and passive-aggressive way of doing things (from my perspective), especially considering he'll be gone in two weeks.

You are, of course, entitled to your own reading of the situation.

This doesn't appear to be a major logistical problem, even though it does seem to be taking a psychological toll on the OP.

I have no interest in banning you. In fact, I've never banned anyone.

From the downvotes you probably get the sense that maybe your message could be expressed in a more effective way.

Keep in mind you are under no obligation to change it. I'm merely encouraging you to do so.

The intention is to provide soft-touch moderation, not heavy-handed "ban anyone that does not agree with me" moderation.

I took an intro to psychology course that was 100% multiple choice.

All done on those cards that you can feed into a machine. Easy right?

It turns out they only recorded 4 out of 5 of my 20% exams.

No system is perfect and you need to be aware enough to talk to your professor if there is any kind of discrepancy.

Here's the thing about being a moderator I can remove offensive comments and ban offensive commenters and leave them with little to no recourse.

The good news is, only asshole mods do that. Since I'm not an asshole, I prefer to ask commenters to rephrase their comments in a less offensive way. It doesn't happen a lot but I certainly don't feel bad about it when it does.

Rephrasing comments is usually very easy to do and has nothing to do with censoring, only communicating in a reasonable manner. The ideas behind the comment stay the same but the language becomes more "adult".

It's not for me to say how, because the ideas are LongLostFriend's alone.

If you want to "blast the shit out of me", have at it. I would, however, encourage you to do it in a civilized way.
