Cops, Witnesses Back Up George Zimmerman's Version of Trayvon Martin Shooting by ethicalkingin politics

[–]handburglar 2 points3 points ago

I don't think I have justified his death in any way. Your point is he was skinny and Zimmerman shouldn't have felt scared. Yet the symbol of Trayvon has become the hoodie. A thick and loose piece of clothing that would completely obscure whether someone was skinny or not.

Clearly this 17-year-old was capable of taking this man's life by sheer brute force and was fully prepared to do so.

If you think that a 6'2" young man is not capable of killing somebody you're fucking nuts. I have no idea what his intentions were.

If we are to believe Zimmerman's side of the story (he didn't know where Trayvon was, got out of his car to get the address of the house he was in front of, was attacked with his Trayvon on top of him (meaning he was completely overwhelmed), and that Trayvon reached for his firearm) then Zimmerman did have a reason to believe his life was in danger and that this was completely Trayvon's fault.

Zimmerman may also be completely full of shit, I wasn't there, I don't know. But there does seem to be at least some evidence to support what he is claiming.

Do you think he stepped on the scale to show Zimmerman his weight before or after the fight?

What was the symbol everyone was wearing to show solidarity with Trayvon again?

Yes, I have. If he was indeed slamming his head into the ground then it was possible that he would have been killed by him.

People who use that word wouldn't even consider Zimmerman white.

Does that explanation honestly make sense to you?

I have no idea, I wasn't there. My entire point is when you place loose with the facts you get stupid rumors like we have now. The biographer believing he was born in Kenya is not a completely isolated case.

I understand the strategy you are using (lasering down to the one detail that it wasn't published and therefore means nothing), but if you would like to continue the conversation so would I.

Why do you believe that people like his biographer believed he was born in Kenya? He is not the only one who has believed this before.

[–]handburglar -3 points-2 points ago

My point exactly. These stupid theories are coming out because Obama (or the people around him) found it convenient to let people believe he was from Kenya.

How many people do you know well enough to know where their father was born but not where they were? Would you say after talking to Obama enough to know where his father was born that you would assume that he too was born in Kenya? When I hear Obama talk he sounds like a normal American to me.

Do you know how many people I know whose parents were born in Mexico? I never assume they were born in Mexico because of that, it's not like Americans are not used to meeting children of immigrants, it's extremely common. My great-grandmother was born in Italy. Even at the age of 5 I was able to understand that even though my grandmother and great-grandmother shared a name and my great-grandmother was born in Italy that my grandmother was not born in Italy.

It's fairly common in American culture for women to remove hair on various parts of their body. You may be surprised to know that they also remove hair from parts of their face, legs, arm pits and other areas.

Like I said in another comment, if I were just randomly meet Obama and talk to him, the last thing I would think was that he was from Kenya. Looks and sounds like an American to me. So where did the writer of this get the idea he was from Kenya? Did he just randomly make it up? Seems like an awfully specific place to say someone is from if you're just randomly making stuff up. Why Kenya? I imagine Kenya could come up in the conversation when he mentions his father is from there. I get that. But telling someone your father is from Kenya and then having someone say that you're from Kenya is two totally different things.

For who exactly?

The people that this blurb was targeted towards.

Why don't you point something that Obama has written or said in his own words that lead people to question his birth.

Obama wouldn't write that because it's not true, but I also don't think he just sat there and was completely oblivious to the fact that people thought he was born in Kenya that shit doesn't just appear out of thin air.

That's BS, it was no mistake. At the time it sounded better to say he was born in Kenya. If we want to wonder why people question his birth so much it's because he let people like this embellish the facts.

I don't think this changes anything. It does show that Obama (or somebody) has been very loose about his past. Meeting Obama on the street I would never think "Oh that fella was born in Kenya". Somebody told somebody he was, why did they do that? It's all very bizarre.

While I believe he was born in Hawaii, I don't think it's fair to automatically think someone is completely nuts for questioning it. Apparently even people close to him believed he was born in Kenya at some point.

I don't want my government to be fucking PASSABLE, I want my government to be EXEMPLARY. Are you American? How can you possibly be satisfied with passable?!

I want my country to be exemplary, I want its people to be exemplary, I do not ask my government to make things this way. They can't. The government is not going to be able to make the US a great nation, its people do. The government should be able to defend the country, provide assistance to those who need it most, and provide a stable legal framework for working out disputes between private parties. Beyond that I don't want them in my life.
