This is heart-wrenching. It's tough to not instantly feel hate towards Thomas' parents - although I know it's not the right thing to feel. After doing some Googling -- it appears Thomas attended military school? I have to try to imagine that mindset - people so horrified by homosexuality that they would treat their son that way - a family that would rather cut him out of their life, rather than accept him. I should feel sorry for them. Beside, them feeling others hatred might make them more entrenched in their bigotry. What I DO hope happens is that they have a moment of enlightenment before they die and they realize what a terrible mistake they made --- one that can never be fixed and what a terrible injustice they did to his partner. Also, I hope Bridegroom's name can become a nationally known rallying cry and their attempts to transmogrify their son's life will be an utter failure. It would be nice if some people in Indiana can leave flowers and notes on Tom's grave.
