Typically Innova user, suggests for other discs? by pariah13in discgolf

[–]benso87 3 points4 points ago

Gateway Wizard and MVP Ion are my favorite putters. You will probably see a lot of love for these two discs around here.

Champion Mamba: I love it! by bulljamin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

I haven't thrown one, but I have a friend who likes to use his for thumbers. It's so understable that he can throw a right-handed thumber and get it to sort of corkscrew and finish to the left as if he threw a tomahawk (almost like an Epic, if you've seen those). He can't throw tomahawks very well for whatever reason, so he uses it to fill that gap.

Avery Jenkins and Brodie Smith(from Ultimate) doing some fun trick shots. Particularly amazing shot at 3:25. by Unkochickenin discgolf

[–]benso87 1 point2 points ago

One thing that always bugs me about Brodie's videos is how much he screams after every throw. But I'm guessing he has to try most of them several times before they work, so I can't really complain.

Two disc challenge at yr home course - what do you take? Why? by WhenTheRainsComein discgolf

[–]benso87 1 point2 points ago

I can throw under par with just an Ion at my home course, so it might be too easy of a course for this (the longest hole is 330). That said, if I had to pick 2, I would probably take a soft Ion and a Buzzz. I will probably do this at lunch today, actually.

Our first disc dyes. by whiskeybeardin discgolf

That Jack Skellington dye is awesome.

Ignoring Par by brianthepersonin discgolf

[–]benso87 5 points6 points ago

It really doesn't matter what you consider par. The goal is to complete the whole course with the fewest possible throws, and your total number of throws will be the same regardless of how you calculate par.

Never leave a man behind by ASSinAssassinin discgolf

A statement that is true for pretty much any disc.

So my GF has never seen any of the star wars movies...Reddit, which order do you recommend? by lukec3in AskReddit

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

Watching 1-3 before 4-6 kind of ruins some big surprises in the original trilogy.

What is the US opinion on Canada? by zachgravesisgodin AskReddit

[–]benso87 2 points3 points ago

I've met several Canadians due to the fact that I dated one for about 2 years (while she lived there), and I generally liked them.

is this inappropriate conduct? by GeneralBE420in discgolf

[–]benso87 17 points18 points ago

It sounds like the guy was being kind of a dick (he was probably upset about losing a disc), but proving that you don't have his disc avoids potential conflict. He probably felt dumb afterwards, and that seems like enough punishment for something that everyone will soon forget about anyway.

How to make a Ti Buzz(Purple) more Visible? by lunkdjediin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

This seems like yet another barely enforced and/or vague rule in this game. This makes me wonder why it's okay for companies to make discs like the supercolor Buzzz, since that basically takes a legal disc and adds a layer of paint on top of it.

How to make a Ti Buzz(Purple) more Visible? by lunkdjediin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

I think you could be okay using a metallic Sharpie. That's what I used to write my name/number on my blue Ti Buzzz. That shouldn't be illegal if a regular Sharpie isn't.

But if you colored the whole disc, I'm sure it would just end up rubbing off all over your hand.

Best putters for the push putt? by meddlingbearin discgolf

[–]benso87 2 points3 points ago

The Omega doesn't have a bead, correct? This is just speculation, but that could make the difference. The Ion's bead may be getting snagged on your hand and causing the wobble, while the Omega comes out clean.

Any other options for marking my discs besides sharpie? Something that would come off easier? by Dfunkatronin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

I've had mixed results with this. Sometimes it works great, like on my dark colored, grippy discs. But I couldn't see it at all when I tried writing on yellow champ plastic. Not just that I couldn't see it, but it didn't seem to be writing at all.

I just got some new plastic and a bag this past week! Just thought I would share :D by EarthRynoin discgolf

Yep. Dynamic Discs has 4 different molds for sale. The Force is $40 right now, though. Ha.

I'm not sure there is one in the city where his flair says he lives.

A plea to disc golf retailers, please stop doing this. :( by atom519in discgolf

I think he's saying that the stickers they put on don't come off easily enough.

I saw this sticker on someone's car and I flipped him off. After I found out what it meant I felt like such an asshole. by blooper2112in discgolf

[–]benso87 4 points5 points ago

This sticker has always bugged me. Obviously we all agree with what it's supposed to mean, but it just isn't obvious enough.

Hole One at Waterworks in KC with the city on the horizon. Beautiful way to start the day. by RobertPaulsen39in discgolf

Don't tell my friends who still live there, but courses like this are probably what I miss most about living in KC.

Does anyone use the "Crane" move when putting? (3:05) by DiscTroyin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

I have a handful of times since I saw this video. It's not really a good technique because you're shifting your weight away from the direction you want the disc go, but it's kind of entertaining just to mess with people.

Pop Quiz!! by meddlingbearin discgolf

[–]benso87 0 points1 point ago

I suppose it would depend on the course, but I would go with something like Star Wraith, Champ Firebird, Star Teebird, Ti Buzzz, and Soft Ion.

Any idea if this could work to flatten out domey discs? Also, would that even be legal in PDGA events?
