Oh, the irony of a pro-female cyclist story touching up a photo of a female rider to make her look "prettier."

Some of the most striking acting was done by Hugo Weaving in V for Vendetta; really goes to show that masked characters can be far more intriguing than ones where you can see their faces. But with that said, if I'm writing a DaS script, I'd want Seigmeyer to be the comic relief of sorts; I'd like to have him interact with the protagonist at times; for masked character, removing the wall between the two can be an intimate, emotional moment and I think that would be too tempting to have happen (especially if Sir Onion dies at the end of the film). I see him as a tragic hero of the comical kind.

Every character would have their faces seen--it would be rather dull to just have a round-headed walking suit of armor for the entire film.

Stellan Skarsgard as Logan is an inspired choice. Check out my picks above--I think you'll like them.

I'm onboard with Fassbender as Solaire, as well. He'd have to put on some body fat, though; he is unsettlingly slender in all his films and I'd like to see him a little more bulky and physically intimidating, if that makes sense. But his posture, expressions, and personality and voice all seem like a fantastic fit.

Agreed... but she already is involved in his life, via his current girlfriend. She is affecting him remotely via his current partner. Toxic she is--already! So, in my perspective, approaching her about the issue in question would be effective, if risky, as a last resort.

Sean Pertwee as Lautrec, mostly because I was certain he did the voice acting for the character until I bothered to look it up. He'd do a great job with the character in lending him a duplicitous, suspicious character.

Henry Ian Cusick as Laurentius. The voice is perfect, but he is likely too handsome... I'd have him look grizzlier than he was in LOST, and probably have most of his face obfuscated by his hood for much of the film. He would capture the nervous, genuinely good-natured (and a bit naive) character of Laurentius perfectly.

Nick Frost as Siegmeyer of Catarina. He plays the lovable, bumbling idiot perfectly; and I feel with a little added muscle, he could handle the physicality fairly well. (He did some tumbling in Hot Fuzz that I was impressed with.) I see him as an aloof knight, capable if lacking in judgment, and very introspective to the point of being rather crippled by over-thinking things.

Rooney Mara as Sieglinde of Catarina--no, no, bear with me on this one... Her physicality and mental instability in Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was stunning; her voice can be soft, which Sieglinde's is; I like that about her. It gives the character an eerie sense of adolescence and beauty, as well as potentially (considering she kills her father in the end) a mentally unhinged potential. Soft spoken and capable of extreme ferocity; would make the character more interesting than she is in the game, I think.

Ryan Gosling as the nameless protagonist. I'd like a subdued performance that allows the sparse story, desolate landscapes, and strange people and creatures to take the focus. Ryan's work in DRIVE was astounding--very little dialogue, but so much charisma and non-verbal emotion. Tom Hardy would be another excellent choice as a medieval knight thrown into a world he doesn't know or understand. (And he is excellent in every film he does.) Mads Mikkelsen would be another superb choice, but the film would probably need a more popular leading name. If not, he'd be my first and only choice; he does the uncertain, wandering warrior better than anyone alive.

Directed by Nicholas Winding Refn, whose previous credits include: Valhalla Rising, Drive, and Bronson.

Honestly, the rest of the characters felt two-dimensional, cliche, or not particularly interesting to me; I feel they probably wouldn't make it into my screenplay. (For whatever that's worth!)

edit: Oh, gods--how could I forget Solaire?! I'd have Nikolaj Coster-Waldau play him. He is absolutely amazing in Game of Thrones as Jamie Lannister--and even better in Headhunters. He can radiate good nature, and his ability to express trembling anxiety would be great for the latter half of the film.

You know something, I'm a published writer and my biggest writing fantasy is a Dark Souls script. It would be heavily influenced by the characters and setting, and the narrative would be just as implicative and quiet as the game is. I would almost certainly want a cinematographer similar to Nicholas Winding Refn's visual style, and I honestly, truly am excited about working on the screenplay even though I know there's zero chance it'll ever go anywhere.

It's just such a fascinating world to me, filled with all sorts of possibilities and compelling tales of humanity. I play it out in my head on my commute at least once a week. I can't get enough.

If you're being repeatedly rejected, take note of the publisher considerations for each project you're seeking. I get about 300 writers emailing me each month (small publisher, editor) and 90% of them didn't bother to even read our company's mission statement or do some research to determine what our target demographics are.

It is just absolutely inane to have to go through email submissions containing adult science fiction when we cater to YA lit and comics. Also, most people who think of themselves as "writers" just put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) and decided their pet interest qualifies them for employment. Writing isn't equal opportunity--you have to come up with some creative and/or with a marketing angle that fits with upcoming or current trends, or work for book mills on a project-to-project basis.

Before I was published, I wrote and researched--on the average--4-9 hours a day for months before I got lucky. Much of that time was spent finding my own voice, but most of it was finding the right publishers for my various projects. Also, working as an editor for the past four years has increased my writing skills ten fold. You really can't improve as a writer without a ton of peer review or some sort of external, objective source of critique. (Unless you're one of those gifted few, in which case you wouldn't be struggling to find work.) So no matter what any idiot wannabe writer tells you, simply "writing a lot" likely won't get you to where you need to be; you need feedback and criticism, preferably from experienced writers AND from casual readers.

Don't be a dick. You're just playing with semantics here--he hasn't committed to dating her exclusively yet, and assuming he hasn't led her to believe otherwise, there's no problem with him dating other women (or fucking them, for that matter), while he's deciding whether or not to go exclusive with the girl (indicated by "probably" in your post).

My girlfriend is the best friend of my ex girlfriend. by EmotionalMillionairein relationship_advice

[–]Wolfmanatee -5 points-4 points ago

Call your ex and ask what's going on. Tell her what you've noticed and ask her if she knows why your current girlfriend might be behaving differently after they hang out.

This comes with potential ramifications, including: bringing a crazy ex back into your circle, even if briefly; and your current partner may not like you asking your ex about her. But honestly... what recourse is left to you if she refuses to acknowledge her distant behavior after spending time with your ex? I would sit your partner down and ask her, point blank, what is going on and carefully lay out your reasoning as to why she's acting strangely. If she still insists nothing's going on, or tries to turn the table on you, then perhaps it's time to ask the other person involved.

There will be people here who will say this is a bad idea, but I think it's clear that your ex is attempting to manipulate the situation through your current girlfriend, and she (your current gf) is not being forthcoming. That means your ex is complicit in this scenario, and your partner is as well as evidenced by her reclusive behavior after spending time with your ex. Obviously, they are talking about you and at least some of it is making your gf question her commitment to you (or failing that, her ability to confide in you). I think it's unwise to take this laying down.

This is one of those situations where you should probably look after your own interests first, assuming everything you've done with this friend of your ex is above-board and that you're a stand-up guy.

edit: Downvoted, but I expected that. Feel free to express why you disagree--I'd be glad to show that I am certainly contributing a worthwhile perspective to this discussion.

HA! I JUST did this with a dv8000 model three days ago! It took four fucking hours to take it apart and put a new, used fan in, then reassemble it. I found it to be a rewarding experience, but fuck HP for using such piece of shit CPU fans. That's the second one I've had to replace in three years!

Don't forget the defective CPU fan in the DV8000 models that inevitably died within 2-3 years of use, requiring a complete disassembly and 100 bucks for a new part (unless you're lucky enough to find one used, as I did, for 30 bucks). It took me 3 hours to put the damn thing back together. Granted, I saved a few hundred bucks by not taking it to a repair place, but simply looking at that piece of shit fan made me realized that HP cheaps on anything/everything it can.

This is the right answer. Purefoy is too typically masculine and forcefully charismatic; Coyne is a better match for Rayder as he is depicted in the books.
