Sarcasm aside- there are different types of straight white males. The author lumps a population of millions into a narrow construct.

I would be bitter too if my physics degree and engineering job made less than a receptionist which, no offense, is a position not requiring an education. I don't think this is him being sexist. My wife is not working at the moment and I try not to bring attention to my job in many ways because I have a lesser education, yet have a job.

I roll my eyes every time this gets discussed here. Asking a father for a blessing is a very powerful bonding experience for the groom and the father in law. In many ways it is not really about the daughter but about creating a moment between son in law and father in law.

I do have a question. When you say "they" who are you referring to? Another thing we teach in self defense courses is that NO ONE, not a teacher, a parent, a official, is a better advocate for you than YOU. It's important that we know how to seek out the information to protect ourselves.

One of the things my folks teach in self defense courses is that the sooner you deal with this sort of harassment the safer, and more effective the result. While there is never a guarantee a person who is behaving this way is more easily dealt with the less time they have invested in the behavior. I.E it is easier to get rid of a stalker in the first week than after two months because they have yet to "invest" more heavily psychologically speaking.

Ranger school grad here- one of the reasons for the medicine limitations is because the trainers want to guarantee that the only medicine you receive is tightly controlled and monitored. You are allowed medicine but only at the disgression of the medical staff. One of the core concept of ranger school is that if 100 is healthy they want to reduce you to 25 for an extended period of time through limited food, sleep, and strenuous exertion.

I think a common misconception is that the PT test standards are synonymous with performance in an infantry unit. I would expect every soldier, regardless of gender, to able to hump a full ruck, and machine gun, with body armor and kit.

The point I neglected to specify is that I would expect women in an infantry unit to carry the same burden as the men, to include being able to buddy care anyone in the unit. Having spent a good part of this morning doing a buddy carry run with other 200 pound men, I think it's a daunting task.

Every single time I pursued a selective position in the service I talked to someone who had done it already. The military reminds us that we are our best advocates when it comes to our careers going in a direction we want.

How is it wrong for potential recruits to do the same? I guarantee we all tried to find out the best times to re-enlist for bonuses, the best ways to set ourselves up for success at ranger school, etc. To come on the forum and belittle people thinking about it is hypocritical.

Yes. We all have our limit. But we should be held accountable for our decisions nonetheless. If I am pushed over the edge emotionally and my s.o. yells at me for something and I react with violence "having my limit" is not a defense.

I've had many hateful things said to me. Taking it to violence is totally inappropriate.
