What happens if you die with no money to res at a waypoint? by Ferret12345in Guildwars2

[–]ChunkyD233 1 point2 points ago

I think they increase the cost of teleporting anywhere that is in a different instance to discourage overloading the servers.

Also, IIRC, teleporting to another instance will automatically put you in the overflow shard instead of giving you the option prompt when you walk through a gate to get there.

Community effort to coordinate transfers? by Unogasmin swtor

[–]ChunkyD233 0 points1 point ago

There's a "movement" going on on the SWTOR forums of people encouraging re-rolling on a specific server for each region/type, if you are going to self-transfer. Basically, they are just going to the servers that have a good population, but aren't having queues, yet. This is a temporary fix, and isn't enough for the mass migration that will occur.

Bioware has mountains of data available to them about server populations and how they fluctuate with time. It would be awesome - albeit a little creepy - if they grouped all the people who have similar gametime patterns on a server. That is, they would recommend the server that has the population schedule that suits you best.

While I don't think they will go to that extreme, they will have information that will help that the community does not have full access to.

David Hunt (my new hero) answers a truck load of augment questions by azazael13in swtor

[–]ChunkyD233 4 points5 points ago

So, to summarize the important stuff:

You can add an augment slot to any equip-able green item.

Augments require a minimum Augment Slot level. There are 6 tiers. You can add any level Slot to any level item.

You get the materials at a constant rate from RE'ing equippable items: 10 items -> 1 augment kit. The material tier corresponds to the tier of the gear RE'd.

Extraction costs are reduced 30%.

Adding an augment slot using a kit costs between 4.5k - 50k depending on the tier.

Other information:

Augment kits can be used by anyone. They are made by Armstechs, armortechs, and synthweavers.

Was I an asshole for telling a woman "no, you can't hold my baby." by paolobabe99in AskReddit

[–]ChunkyD233 0 points1 point ago

You are well within your rights.

Just know that for some people holding a baby can make their day.

Also, I think that this could be something that is a culture-clash: she may be from a place/family where baby-sharing is common.

Are the sunglasses that cost more than $50 (or even more than $250) really any better than those that cost $5? Is it all about fashion, or are there some that are extremely well built? by SmellsLikeUpfooin answers

[–]ChunkyD233 0 points1 point ago

Some sunglasses that you get for cheap don't really have lenses at all. The plastic for the lenses is the exact same as that of disposable plastic spoons. The only difference is that the plastic is not dyed to be opaque. This means that the lenses distort what you see, fog up in the presence of any moisture (hard to tell in the dry AC'd store), and scratch easily.

I've been 100% satisfied with every $25 pair of sunglasses I have ever picked out and I feel bad for all my friends who insist on needed higher quality ones but either never wear them or they constantly worry about them because of how much they have invested in them.

By the way, I discovered the relationship to the disposable utensils by literally putting a plastic spoon up to my eye to see through it. It wasn't dyed opaque, so I could.

AoE Looting: can this be added? by KhamsinEbonmanein Guildwars2

I made nowhere near that amount when I did WvW during the BWE. I was able to buy 3 rams with all the money I made there for the 10-12 hours that I was in WvW.

Some things that factor in are:

are you heavy on AOE? AOE heavy builds will make way more money because they get loot from everything they touch that dies

How many enemies are you encountering that also die from the encounter? Unless you finish them, it doesn't matter how many you kill.

Edit: actually, the biggest factor may be the level you are when you are in WvW. I was in WvW primarily with characters between 5-10.

Question: Is my dps enough to keep up for NM? by mokey17in swtor

[–]ChunkyD233 1 point2 points ago

Minimum gear to attempt:

Story mode EV: grab some lvl 50 gear+mods and you are good to go

Story Mode KP: Some Tionese

Hard Mode EV/KP: Close to full Columi

Nightmare EV/KP + Story EC: Close to full Rakata

Hard Mode EC: Full Rakata

Nightmare EC: Doesn't exist yet - will probably require close to full Campaign/Black Hole gear.

What should I farm on my low pop server before transfers happen. by qbertrockin swtor

[–]ChunkyD233 0 points1 point ago

Maybe Enriched Durasteel (if you have scavenging)/Perfect Upari Crystal (if you have archaeology). They only spawn in the Belsavis northern daily area, so they are subject to Daily traffic.

The only use for them at the moment is to craft the consumable needed to fight the Nightmare Pilgrim. I haven't been able to sell many of them, yet, but I think that that is because there aren't many groups attempting the NP on our server, yet. I imagine on a really high population server, the demand is higher.

This is one of the reasons that I realized that I would not be doing WvW for leveling - the coin you get is tiny compared to what you get doing hearts and dynamic events.

Either that, or there will finally be a legendary level item.

Reserving Your Character Name for Guild Wars 2 – ArenaNet Blog by impromptusin Guildwars2

If they didn't do this, then I would find a redditor on every server to have a character named Zerg. We would, once a week, pick a server to all guest to and zerg through all the starter areas to make sure none of the newbies had fun. MWAHAHAHA

Blindness a bit too weak? by TheMightySporkin Guildwars2

[–]ChunkyD233 1 point2 points ago

I wish that the duration of it lasted a little longer. I would try to use it on an ogre-type NPC: guess when he was about to attack, blind him, and keep attacking rather than dodge to keep distance. The animation was longer than a second, so I still got hit with the big smash. So what appeared to be the optimal time to blind turned out to be pointless.

I think I tried during the animation and it didn't work. I think it's because the ongoing attack didn't count as the "next" attack.

All the ones you mentioned don't add up to 25. You must have older quests in there or are starting flashpoints/ops/quests without finishing them.

How do I get my lazy-ass son to pull away from Reddit and get a frickin job? by DadOfARedditorin AskReddit

[–]ChunkyD233 4 points5 points ago

As a guy who is in a similar situation, lemme tell you some things:

I'm guessing that he lives with you. Being at home has a weird tranquilizing effect on me. All my desires to be productive and proactive simply disappear when I am at home. When I was away for 4 years at school, I was social and eager to try new things and I got good grades and even had the energy for job hunting. As soon as I came home it was like that person never existed. If you can find a way to get him physically out of the house - even if you have to pay the way for a while, I bet that he will be in a better state of mind.

If you really think of him as a "lazy-ass," then I place a lot of the blame on you. Any sign or hint that you don't respect him will have a MAJOR impact on his self-confidence, which will hinder him from doing work and taking risks searching for jobs. I was absolutely crushed when I graduated college without a job offer. This was when I was supposed to finally be independent. Do you know what he is feeling? Have you bothered to hear him out? I mean listen. My parents just compared me to themselves and assumed that meant that they understand how I felt - exactly what you did in this post. All that did was make me feel even smaller than all of the job applications and rejections did because it made me feel like a stupid little kid. There's no excuse for being lazy, but check to see if you are keeping him in a downward spiral.

My parents shut off my internet for a while to teach me a lesson. Big mistake. Like it or not, the internet is a huge part of young people's lives now. All it did was confirm my suspicions that my parents still thought of me as a 12 year old and smashed my self-respect. How am I supposed to talk to someone about a grown-up job when my parents are exerting their control over my life?
