Nope, the reviews are "filtered" by Yelp. I've seen it done and am still surprised people use that shitty service anymore.

I like the LoL analogy. I'm surprised that never clicked to me, but it is very similar to that (in terms of a healer).

I honestly don't even know why people bumped GW2 onto it. Are we marketing for Anet now by pretending to play a game that we cannot? What's the point in gaming the chart?

Love it. Awesome feedback. I remember reading it when that thread was a few hours old--didn't see some of the older edits. I would suggest perhaps even reposting that in another thread down the road. It has some superb feedback and is exactly how criticism should be done.

Regarding the dueling, one of the devs said they would roll out dueling in the game, but would not be done so until post-release. Here's an in-game chat with Jon Peters regarding it: http://i.imgur.com/inYDU.jpg

As for the PvE issue, I'm kind of in your boat; however, I'm afraid that the PvE might get boring. It's something I won't know til I reach that point, though.

I appreciate the comments! (And especially for not immediately downvoting me due to having some criticisms!)

My issues, which I think should be addressed before release, without going into too much detail:

  • Range vs. Melee safety--not much of a reason to go melee in pve right now.
  • Key modifiers
  • Lack of /say
  • Inspect/any interaction between players
  • Dueling (already addressed)
  • Something to keep people excited to level for. Other games have skills that unlock later, with one every level or two. GW has that, but not as frequently--only utilities, those of which can be attained by a relatively low level. Would be nice if more skills became unlockable as you leveled (even just show items). This is a tougher one to fix, and I doubt it will be addressed.
  • End game PvE. Say what you want, but it's lacking in my opinion.
  • Ease of seeing when a skill is in range. More needs to happen than the little number turning red.
  • Particle effects: This has been nailed into the ground already, but it's worth repeating. It's a clusterfuck when there's 3+ skills going on at once, and you really can't tell much from it.
  • Respawn rates. Perhaps just a beta thing, but they were very high on the beta and took away from the fun.
  • Game might be a bit confusing to those jumping right in, specifically how to locate all the PvP stuff and understanding the complexity of crafting. These can be complex in many games, but there's no reason why some tutorials can't be set up.
  • When you bind a letter to your skills, it does not show the letter in the hotbar (might just be me?)

I'm sure I have more, just can't think of it. Again, GW2 is a great game--not perfect, of course--but I want to take advantage of this beta stage and try to get as much fixed or altered as possible, before release. I'm not going to pretend it is flawless.

The ANet forums are down, and some ANet devs clearly read reddit. Why can we not group all the negatives in one area and come back and check them out next beta? Plus, as they are curently working on improving the game, why can't we give them criticism on the lesser points of the game in one area?

It's dumb and childish to only focus on positives and ignore any blatant failures or areas of improvement in a game. The beta and testing phases are here so they can improve on that which needs to be improved; however, we can't fix it with just one voice every now and then. It's important to point out the flaws and make the game even better for release. They are reading, so why can't we point them towards what needs to be read?

I am upvoting you in the hopes that more people voice opinions with negatives scattered throughout, so that we can attempt to address them in a realistic manner during the beta, rather than focusing only on positives. Yes, it's a good game, but let's use this time to improve on it, rather than talk about how badly we need it.

OH I LOVE CAT GIF THREADS! LEMME GET IN ON THIS BITCH

How do I tell my love ones I am dying? by IamDieingin AskReddit

[–]ChokingVictim -1 points0 points ago

Sure, but there's no need for the proof when the thread is simply a question that doesn't really even require the OP to elaborate too much. Not everything on the internet needs to be proved, and if someone lying on the internet "kills your faith in humanity," then you're doing something wrong.

While I do agree, I just don't think it's necessary for all these threads to be full of "PROOF!" when the post is simply a question. Even if it's sad, so what if he lied?

Also, it's probably a bit of a hassle to prove something like what the OP say he has.

You're right, I checked through a bit of other sound clips and it is one of the guys. Sounds like they might be using the distance-based voice chat mumble or whatever it was offers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaS5kJAq6Tc#t=3m13s is this clip, but you can hear a similar cry at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaS5kJAq6Tc#t=4m53s, when he says "fuck him up -- oh, I fell off!"

Would've been cool if it was in-game.

Why do we need proof? He is just asking for suggestions. Worst case, some good suggestions are made and people read them. Best case, we help someone out.

Until he starts asking for donations or requesting free things, there's really no need. It's a question, not an IAMA or a request for money.

Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events - Consequences! by Pluberusin Guildwars2

[–]ChokingVictim 0 points1 point ago

No, because I have not tried the endgame yet for GW2. Additionally, WoW was about the grind for the end game, whereas this provides an approach where the "entire game is the end game" (in a sense). I am worried that might not hold up as well, in that I am not necessarily working towards anything, or unlocking new skills (save for the utility).

Also, I am worried the DE system for GW will get just as repetitive. There are only so many different "events" that can occur.

Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events - Consequences! by Pluberusin Guildwars2

[–]ChokingVictim 0 points1 point ago

Ah, see, this is what I didn't know. As I mentioned, I focused on the classes and not the levels. I didn't know that most mobs around his level are veterans (if this is true/what I am getting is correct). That makes a world of difference.

If the majority of mobs are not vets at 10+, then I would still request a more balanced video, of course.

Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events - Consequences! by Pluberusin Guildwars2

[–]ChokingVictim 0 points1 point ago

Even if this were so, and if the illusions could reasonably tank the mob for any extended amount of time, he'd still be losing damage on his target and the target would still be a veteran, compared to the normal mob in the low level fight.

Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events - Consequences! by Pluberusin Guildwars2

[–]ChokingVictim 0 points1 point ago

It may not be that hard, but it is still a long time to go without any sort of instance. 35 levels is quite a few hours, and that can get monotonous doing the same types of events (again, an assumption).

I think I'm just a bit worried is all. I'm hopeful, but not too hopeful. Right now we're in a high state of hype, but I'm trying to keep things in perspective (in that this absolutely will not be a perfect game). I'm hoping those EG dungeons can be entertaining, but it's a new concept, so I won't know til I've tried it. It might be great, or they might suck for repetition.

Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events - Consequences! by Pluberusin Guildwars2

[–]ChokingVictim 2 points3 points ago*

My complaints fall more in the fact that you are stuck doing quests/pvp until level 30, when you can get into your first dungeon. Then you can only get into a new one every 10 levels or so. I like dungeons and I enjoy exploring them, but I cannot do this in the game. Even at the end, there is no big "raids" or dungeons to really spend time working towards. This is not a game-breaking deal for me, just something I would prefer. You can call it a gear-grind, but it does not have to be so--it can simply be "complete one dungeon to gain access to the next," with ones requiring more and more people, or more and more time/skill to complete.

I am also not sold on the lack of roles, it makes everything in PvE feel very "faceroll for DPS"-ish. That's something I'll have to judge for myself later on down the road, though.

As it is now, the game is very PvP-oriented.

Sure, but the beta has ended and I cannot do this!

Also, I am more curious as to the scaling in the mid-game, as opposed to the late game.
