Two people holding hands as they fall from the Twin Towers on 9/11 by thekeenin pics

What's really daft is - You're in a fire and are currently at this moment dying a horrible death as you breathe in the toxic smoke. If you stay you will definitely die. If you jump you will probably die but who knows? There is a tiny tiny possibility that you might survive. So you take the chance because what other choice do you have?

Now religion's stupidity gets in the way of your family's grieving at what most be an awful time. So I'll say it again. Fuck religion.

Once enough people use it - it will definitely become a word.

Sometimes fear and shock can make people sort of retreat into themselves. They probably only thought about thanking your father when they got home and calmed down from the incident.

Do teachers proof the tests they hand out and who do we complain to about bad questions like this? by beernutmarkin matheducation

[–]CD_reflected_rainbow 2 points3 points ago

That could happen easily enough though. Coming to think of it it is almost certainly what did happen. Why ask the question otherwise?

[–]CD_reflected_rainbow 9 points10 points ago

Hmm Oh dear! Too long and too patronising. Unless you have evidence otherwise you should assume that the teacher who teaches them maths is competent rather than incompetent and of course will explain. A quick note "Q15 is misleading - the correct answer of 'equally' likely' is not an option" would have done.

In answer to your question though. Yes teachers do proofread but it very difficult/almost impossible to eliminate all errors in any piece of work. Generally speaking important tests e.g externally marked exams are proofread and checked to death. But this process takes longer than writing the exam so it's not worth it for HW questions.

There is a difference between a teacher who makes a silly error once a month when writing a HW question and one who really doesn't know his or her stuff and is teaching the kids fallacies. Assuming the former - you should complain about bad questions to the teacher. ( or not bother because the kids certainly will anyway).

There is nothing in the test that says that it is a fair coin.

No it doesn't. Are you getting you knowledge of "gipsy culture" from channel 4?

Can the girl just walk away at 16 saying "I don't fancy fucking this man"? Because if she can't then it's rape.

Yes, that's why we'd need a new law. Usually parents are allowed to force their children to leave the UK but when it is being done to force them into marriage then it needs to be illegal.

No I do understand. I also understand that we already have laws against pedophiles going abroad for the purposes of having child sex, this is essentially the same idea except it's the child's parents who are aiding and abetting.

You can't see that it is morally wrong to take a British citizen out of the country in order to force her to do something that is illegal in this country? It doesn't have to be the actual marriage it could be the taking a minor to another country in order to have her raped that is the criminal offence. The removal bit happens in Britain.

How do you propose to tighten the rules in such a way as to only stop these people and not ruin the lives of people who genuinely fall in love and marry foreigners and how would such tightening be any better than making forced marriage a criminal offence for the parents?

Hundreds of Oklahoma kids carted away from school grounds without parental consent or knowledge by LauraBowin education

[–]CD_reflected_rainbow 0 points1 point ago

There will be (there always is) a general permission slip that parents sign at the beginning of the year say words to the effect of "the school can take whatever action is necessary to keep my child safe" And even if there isn't one - so what? Schools have a duty of care to keep the kids safe. Now this is intended for an emergency situation where the parents cannot be contacted beforehand. Say for example a chemical spill, or bomb, or huge fire on the school grounds. Is a drill to practice what they would do in the event of such an emergency covered? Maybe, maybe not - I don't know. Should the school have informed the parents about their emergency plan beforehand? IMO yes they should have. However - the article and your title, are making too much of a fuss about nothing.Because permission slips are nothing. By practising what they would do in the event of an emergency the school is doing something commendable and clearly have the children's best interests at heart. And that is a good thing not a terrible one.
