How often do you recognize a redditor's name in a thread, and remember things they said in the past? by imaginebeyondin AskReddit

Only one.

But that's because he responded to one of my comments with my username written across his dick.

TIL there is an ancient temple in Ireland that predates Giza and Stonehenge. During the winter solstice, light penetrates through to the burial tomb for about 19 minutes. by ruperthackedmyphonein todayilearned

So far my biggest problem is finding a better hiding spot for the camera.

I had a friend from Ontario propose that they send the army in to physically oppress the Quebecois.

This may have been before the protests though.

When I was a kid, I would ALWAYS spread the peanut butter before the jam because I thought the peanut butter jar didn't deserve to be contaminated. I still make my PB&Js this way. What quirky things from your childhood still hold on? by KixStarin AskReddit

[–]A-punk 14 points15 points ago

I would always snap my fingers 3 times when I was forced to have things I would hate as a child for some reason. It was calming I guess.

Whenever I have certain things I hated as a child, I still do it though. Things like broccoli and anal sex are the main ones I would say.

I used to have a slight indentation in the side of my head. According to my Dad who I overheard talking to his friends it was from the tremendous force of his penis while I was in Utero.

I realize this is impossible but it's not great imagery as a kid. Also I think my Dad may be an idiot.

Have you ever really liked a song by someone and then found out later that a LOT of the song was pre-built in a sample pack? by GuyFawkesTrotin WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]A-punk 2 points3 points ago

I used to work in radio and just before I left the station we got a new contract with a 'sample company'. We'd basically use their music for commercials and promotions and stuff like that.

Some of the stuff they had on there was honestly, really fucking amazing. As in better than most of the stuff I was actually playing on air (which realistically probably wasn't to hard but still). The metal section was unbelievable and the RnB was second to none. I later found out Snoop Dog was one of there major collaborators and they had a whole bunch of other studio artists working for them so it kind of makes sense.

They were very clear though that using there service without paying was not a good idea to put it lightly, so your friend might be in a bit of trouble if they find out he ripped them off.

On the one hand the Rolling Stones have 20 years of success and 40 years of recording to become one of the most well known bands in music history, but Long John Baldry became the voice of Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog.

I'm struggling to find who the real winner is here.

IAMA Aspiring voice actor, post any block of text or dialog, and i will read it to you. by Ireadyourpoststoyouin self

Hey, I used to work in radio and have been trained in voice over work as I had to do a lot of it myself. It's cool you want to get into this line of work and you have a nice tone to your voice! A few things though:

You have a slight lisp and 'hiss' to much on your s's, but a lot of people do that. You should do some mouth exercises before you record, Kind of like these It'll help!

You're also slightly mono tonal, you need to vary the pitch of your voice. I used to do an exercise where I would get a block of text and with every word go as low down as I could, than as far up as I could on the next one. It sounds ridiculous but eventually your voice will begin to naturally vary and give it more 'depth'.

This is going to sound weird, but most people don't know how to breathe properly. You should be breathing from your diaphragm, not the top part of your lungs. Try these

Good luck in this though, it can be so much fun!

Why is there not a poll feature yet? This REALLY baffles me. Let's have a poll system so we can easily look at answers easily, and then discuss below in the comments. by southAfRknCrakain AskReddit

[–]A-punk 8 points9 points ago*

Why you say?

  • It opens up one of the largest free marketing tools on the entire internet and would almost immediately be abused.

  • Posts would be created purely to 'karma farm' (the same problem happened 3+ years ago when self posts gave you karma so everyone would post inane questions like "Who here loves Animal Collective?" or "Vote up if you like tits!")

  • If you haven't learnt how to properly dissect and asses 'data' at your age, maybe you should look into a career of fluffing on film sets.

  • There are thousands of other sites that already do the exact thing you're talking about.

  • Polls have an amazing ability to strip any question of any perceived flexibility in meaning. For example "Do you believe in abortion". A poll gives it a yes and no answer and something this complex should not be whittled down to something so simplistic.

  • I personally can never recall gaining any insight reading a poll, mostly because they are almost constantly skewed or worded in a way that suits the creator.

tl;dr: Real polls end up in a firemans truck, not on the front page.
