Some women don't have to orgasm every time to find sex enjoyable or fulfilling. Some women cry with any intense emotion, be it happy, sad or angry etc. It's really not that strange and there's not much to explain.

You should pat yourself on the back.

Just chiming in to confirm. Any strong emotion, good or bad, can make me cry. For women, sex can be very emotional and it's often that emotion that makes it fulfilling, with orgasm being secondary.

Also, for some women orgasm is not always that easy to get to. Sometimes it takes a lot of concentration and sometimes our bodies just won't cooperate. So the emotional fulfillment comes in handy :)

Men do this too.

On very rare occasions, I will cry post-orgasm. The first time I did this, my partner was terrified and I just kept telling him "no, really, it's a good cry!" Pretty weird I think, but your post makes perfect sense to me: it had been so intense and my emotions were out of control, thus the leaky eyes.

While I can't give you a thorough explanation, I will, however, tell you this:

  1. Believe her.
  2. That sounded fucking hot.

Whale biologist here.

It's a natural response from women to secrete tears to be harvested by the male for lubricant.

You do not need to thank me.

Be sure to mention to your girlfriend of comparisons between her and whales.

"No, honey it's a compliment! Like a sperm whale. You're a blubbery receptacle for my sperm!

I have cried during and after sex before. Sex can be a powerful emotional as well as physical thing for women (and men too, of course), and sometimes when you're with someone you really love, after a long time, getting the sex on can just flip that switch in your brain that says, "LOOK AT THAT FUCKING SUNSET! OH MY GOD, WE'RE TINY BEINGS IN THE VASTNESS OF THE COSMOS! WAIT, I HEAR AN ANGEL CHORUS! NO, IT WAS JUST THE SOUND OF THIS MOMENT IN TIME, WHERE, OUT OF ALL THE POSSIBILITIES IN THE UNIVERSE, THESE TWO EXACT PARTICULAR PEOPLE HAPPENED, AND WE ARE FUCKING! MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF STARS!!!"

It's not an orgasm, in the traditional sense; it's a total mindgasm. You just forget about your body entirely and are overwhelmed with so much emotion that you start to cry. But believe me, it's a good thing.

TL;DR: You probably blew her mind, and she might have seen the face of god. If so, go buy yourself a medal, and wear that fucker every day; you earned it.

Huh. I've seen this with my ex a couple times and maybe more. I never knew how whether to feel good or bad about it. Now I'm thinking I should feel awesome about it.

1st time I had a big orgasm with my partner (from sex+clit) I ended up sobbing like a giant idiot and felt really embarrassed. It's just that it felt so amazingly good and I felt so much love/affection for my partner that I lost it I guess. Thanks fully he told me I was adorable and gave me soft kisses.

Congrats! The same thing happened to my girlfriend, and I had your reaction too. She just said it felt amazing and could not handle it. She also got VERY quiet during sex, and covered her face with a pillow. So crying and extremely quiet is good.

And then she broke up with me a week later saying that she can't go against her religious beliefs and will not have sex again until marriage. FML for living in the South. (she's 25, I'm 27)

Maybe THAT'S why she's crying during sex.

It happens. Women seem to like the process a lot and the orgasm is just a little something extra. No worries, man.

She's pregnant. .... .. aha! Just kidding!

But, no, really, it's nothing to worry about. She probably just thought in her head "omg I love this man so much.. this feels so good" and just lost control of her emotions (easy to do when you're in the middle of such a high endorphined sex act!

Just love her and continue the good work, sir. I've done this once but after my girl finished she started crying and pulled me on her and in a whimpering tone just said the following" I love you so much, I'm sorry for crying but I just can't help it, you mean so much to me"... I hadn't even finished yet, but I didn't need to. hearing that was so much better!

Good luck, keep your head up!

I cried once after sex. I had been having alright sex for my whole sexual life, so much so that I thought I was just not as sexual as other people. There was a running joke in my group of friends that I was 'hard work' in bed. It bummed me out sometimes but I figured, like I said, that I was just less 'sexual' than some other girls and left it at that. When I started having sex with somebody who was properly compatible with me, and who made a joke about the 'hard work' thing having clearly been a lie (he was in my group of friends), I couldn't believe it. I thought I was broken, and he fixed me. And I cried a little because I was so fucking happy!! And I knew that no matter what happened that I would always know that it wasn't an issue with me, and figuring out and getting what I wanted in bed should mean that I would never have to feel that way again!

(We have since broken up and no longer speak, but that experience lead me to realising how important sexual compatibility is, and lead me to meeting the fantastic man I'm with now who makes me enjoy sex in ways I never thought possible!)
